Bullet Blender Homogenizer
The Bullet Blender® enables you to homogenize, disrupt, or lyse up to 24 tissue or cell culture samples at a time. Load the samples into standard polypropylene tubes, then place them in the Bullet Blender. The "bullets" in the instrument vigorously strike all of the tubes and homogenize your sample in minutes. The Bullet Blender homogenizer Gold models keep samples at 4°C!
Why choose the Bullet Blender Tissue Homogenizer?
Consistent and High Yield Results
The Bullet Blender tissue homogenizer prepares up to 24 samples in just minutes. All of the samples are automatically homogenized in the same manner, with high yields, so there is very little variation from sample to sample.
Samples Stay COOL
No cool down periods needed. The Bullet Blender tissue homogenizer applies rapid bursts of agitation with minimal sample heating, by utilizing ambient air circulation. Competing bead mill homogenizers require cool-down periods as their designs result in heated samples from minimal air circulating past the sample tubes and/or continuous high-frequency agitation. In comparison, the Bullet Blender’s unique and elegant design maximizes the efficiency of the motor, which does not need to agitate any heavy platforms or plates. Such efficiency allows the Bullet Blender motor to require little power, in turn keeping the samples cooler and our tissue homogenizers in use for many years. In fact, early units from 2006 remain in use today!
So Many Uses, So Easy To Use
In addition to homogenizing tissue, plant matter, small organisms, and microorganisms, the Bullet Blender tissue homogenizer can also isolate live bacteria from organs, generate nanoparticles, and isolate organelles from cells.
It’s so easy to use. Simply place your sample, beads, and buffer in standard tubes, and load the tubes into the Bullet Blender tissue homogenizer. Tune the extent of disruption by adjusting the run time and speed. Afterward, place the sample tubes in a centrifuge to separate the lysate. No special holders are needed. There are no clamp plates nor locking rings to fiddle with.
No Cross-Contamination or Sample Loss
There are no probes or blades that directly contact samples in the Bullet Blender tissue homogenizer to cause cross contamination or sample loss. The sample tubes are kept closed and self-contained during homogenization. For the user, this also means there are no parts to clean between runs.
Models
There are several Bullet Blender® models for different purposes and different size samples, using microcentrifuge tubes (0 – 300 uL samples), 5 mL tubes (0.1 – 1 mL samples), and 50 mL tubes (0.1 – 3.5 mL samples).
The Bullet Blender models include:
- Bullet Blender Lite, a lower power model with the lowest cost and works only with snap cap tubes.
- Bullet Blender Storm Pro, based upon the most popular model, because it has a more powerful motor that can handle the toughest samples and Air Cooling, which forces ambient air past your samples. The Storm Pro model works with our GATOR™ snap cap and RINO® screw cap tubes, made from an extra tough material. This model has a color graphics screen with touch screen controls.
- Bullet Blender 5E homogenizers are versatile models that can handle samples in a range of tubes (1.5 mL snap cap with adaptor SKU:SLV1E5A, 1.5 mL screw cap and 2 mL screw cap SKU:SLV2A, and 5 mL snap cap).
- Bullet Blender Gold+, the best model for working with RNA because it has the powerful motor found in the Storm model, works with our GATOR™ snap cap and RINO screw cap tubes, and incorporates dry ice 4°C Cooling™ to keep samples at 4°C. The Bullet Blender Gold+ models use a temperature sensor in the instrument, monitor the motor load, and use an algorithm, to control a fan to blow the right amount of air past dry ice or liquid nitrogen and then past your samples to keep them near 4°C.
Bullet Blender Models: Microcentrifuge Tubes & Larger Samples in 5 and 50 mL Tubes
The most popular Bullet Blenders are the Storm Pro and the 24 Gold+. They work with 1.5 mL snap cap and screw cap tubes, up to 24 tubes per run, to homogenize samples up to 300 mg (or 300 uL cell culture). The 24 Gold+ uses dry ice or liquid nitrogen and an integrated thermal control system to keep your samples (yes, your samples, not the chamber air) at 4°C. We carry bead lysis kits for most applications for these models.
Growing in popularity, our 5 mL tube Bullet Blenders can homogenize large samples just as quickly as the microcentrifuge models, up to 12 at a time. In addition to working with 5 mL snap cap tubes, our tube adapters also allow 1.5 and 2 mL microcentrifuge tubes to be used. Sample sizes can range from the tiniest samples to 1 g (or 1 mL cell culture). They include:
- Bullet Blender 5E Pro, which has lots of power for homogenizing the toughest samples.
- Bullet Blender 5E Gold+, which is similar to the 5E Pro, and has 4°C Cooling. This dry ice or liquid nitrogen cooling system keeps your samples at 4°C. Unlike our competitors, our integrated cooling system can accurately control the temperature of your samples.
The 50 mL tube model Bullet Blenders, the 50 Gold+ homogenize samples from 100 mg to 3.5 g (or 100 uL – 3.5 mL cell cultures), up to 8 at a time. The Gold+ model controls the temperature of your samples to 4°C.
