1. Can DLAB pipettes withstand ultraviolet sterilization?

Answer: Plastic pipettes will experience color change and become brittle after being sterilized by ultraviolet frequently and for a prolonged period of time, thus shortening the service life of pipette construction. DLAB pipettes are of no exception. Therefore, if ultraviolet sterilization is used, it is suggested each use last for not more than 1hour and the frequency of ultraviolet sterilization is not excessive. It is generally advisable for users to sterilize at high temperature and under high pressure. The piston portion of TOP and Micro series after dismantling can withstand high-temperature and high-pressure sterilization, but Micro Plus series can withstand high-temperature and high-pressure sterilization without the need for dismantling.

2. How long does DLAB manual pipette need to be cooled down after high-temperature sterilization?

Answer: After high-temperature sterilization, it needs to be sufficiently cooled down, preferably for 2 or 3 hours, and calibration is required after sterilization and before use.

3. What brands of tips are suitable for use with DLAB pipettes?

Answer: Commercially available general-purpose tips are generally suitable for use. AXYGEN and BIOHIT tips are recommended.

4. Can DLAB Stepper be sterilized at high temperature and under high pressure completely?

Answer: The construction of Stepper cannot be sterilized at high temperature and under high pressure, but Stepper is an external piston-type pipette in which the sample will not directly contact with the piston inside the pipette but contacts with the piston inside the tip. To prevent cross-contamination, it is sufficient to replace the tip.

5. How to ensure accurate volume sucked when the manual pipette absorbs viscous or volatile samples?

Answer: It is advisable to use continuous-dispensing pipette with an external piston to suck viscous sample. If manual pipette with an internal piston is used, the reverse pipetting method may be used by pressing the suction/discharge button to the second stop point when sucking liquid and pressing the button to the first stop point when discharging liquid, in order to ensure the accuracy of liquid sucked.

6. Can the pipette suck organic solvents?

Answer: The pipettes do not directly contact with the sample. It is theoretically possible, but the strong volatile and corrosive nature of organic solvents might affect the internal piston assembly, so it is suggested that tips containing filter element be used for organic solvents.
